Good to see Alan and Jim and purchased a reasonably priced Volvo for a future project. Not many trucks at the show this year and there's a rumour that the show is moving ... we'll see next year!

Although I enjoyed the visit and meeting some familiar exhibitors, I found the show to be a mirror image of my local IPMS club - 60% aircraft, 30% tanks and everything else making up the final 10%.

Having said that, there were some cracking builds on the `Beyond the Box` and the 1:24th truck tables. :bravo:

Jim, EVERY model show will reflect the state of the hobby and it's level of interest, and that includes local shows and the biggest of them all SMW. Pleased you enjoyed the exhibits on the 'Beyond the Box' stand

it was nice to meet up with nick and the others and one or 2 bargains made their way into the stash . one thing that did disappoint was the number of empty tables. there was definately plenty of interest on our display tonys heavy hauler proving very popular at the end of the day you can only paint a plane one or 2 colours

Each to their own Alan, there's room for everyone. Incidentally, have you seen some of the colour schemes of modern civilian aircraft? ... not to mention the military stuff!

Yep, even one type of combat aircraft comes in many colours

But that still makes for a boring display for the general visitor - unless you are a Phantom (or any of the other one make SIGs) fan, then you do as I did here (and saw many do - this was last year), glance at them and walk on. Yes, people can model what they want but when it comes to exhibiting to the paying public, needs more thought I think

Cheers Alan I think on the whole we all had a good day. I know I did even though I only took a 2nd place in the competition it,s not about the winning I only entered for the fun and to see how the IPMS would take to a knacker wagon at the show.   .
I also took that bloke up on the £35 challenge Alan and came up trumps I got the Bedford Wrecker for it but he would not drop the Tanker to it not even when I offered him £70 for the pair. Well some you win some you lose.

So you were actually there in person were you Tony?  :headache:
I gave searching after the third circuit.  The chap who was looking after your Bedford and caravan told me to try the truck table (again) and they didn`t know where you`d disappeared to either.
Still there`s always Gaydon -  perhaps!!!!
