ash mate can i enter my scania astran model next year please.... pmsl...

Behave this is a serious thread

oops sorry Mr Mixxy,,,,,,,,,, pmsl.

i agree some models are well worthy of winning year on year but i also think once you win something you should say to yourself that was worth the effort but now make something else and show people that yes you did something top notch and a show winner every time but show people that you can also make something again that is as good if not better and win with that model too?

just my oppinion.

peter..

This year I entered a model for in the Heavy Haulage cat, I am extreamley proud of this model,as it is so nearly a model of the real vehicle,  it did not win anything  (yes I was dissappointed), so next year, I would like to enter it again but with a load on, can I do this please. As it did not win anything I feeel that it should be concidered, if at first you dont succeed, try a again( second time, after that if it does not get a look in then I will give up).

I think that will be ok dick as far as I'm aware you can re-enter as long as it has not won 1st 2nd or 3rd previously.

Thanks for the advise, I was a tat dissappointed in not even getting a mention this year as I had won the 3rd for the replica of a real vehicle in 2012, so no mu model has not won anything, hopefully he will do better next year.

Yes you should be ok Dick. It may be worth asking Ash if he can point out WHY it didn't  win anything so maybe you can making additions to help for next time?

Thanks for your reply, I have heard that you win the first year, but not the second, its to entice you to come back the following year, that is only what I have heard how true it is I dont know.

Only additions I can make is to paint the louvres on the bonnett white, as on the real vehicle, I think it looks tarty and have no intention of doing it, apart from the fact I cant paint as well as the owner of the real vehicle has done.

That's certainly a load of bull. I never took a prize this year because I never entered anything as I had no new builds but the 2 years previous I have taken 3 place twice in the Heavy haul category with 2 different models. It is ultimately at the judges discretion if the model take a placing or not. I have also entered different classes with other truck kits and not taken a placement. So I look at it as some you win some you loose and if my best ain,t good enough "ah well" at least I tried.

If your happy with what you have built that,s all that matters mate taking 1st,2nd or 3rd is only a extra bonus. Just be happy and keep showing that,s all it,s about.

I can,t does not exist.
I can if I realy try.

I've never won anything at Gaydon, am I bothered ... no! I build my models for me, if I enter them for competition I do so because I want to, if someone else wins do I jump up and down and sulk? ... no, I congratulate the winners. I have seen contests where folks expect to win and if they don't they whinge and whine and vow never to enter again. This is a hobby and it should be fun. If you build something and put it on your shelf at home it's different to entering it into a contest, some of the other modellers may just build something better than you and it may win, live with it. If you're going to build to win then someone is always going to be disappointed. For me just being at the show is enough and admiring the talent of gifted modellers displaying amazing creations

I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on a memory stick somewhere!

I would like to come down next year (2015), and bring some of my models to display and enter. How do I go about reserving a table, entering models etc.

Just a quick question for Ash,
Is there a class for Heavy Plant, Construction vehicles ?, or is it purely for truck models !.

The best way would be by contacting Ashley Coghill by either email or PM him on the forum for the entry form Tom but remember to give him your postal address so he can send the form to you. Plus Ashley can let you know better if there are any tables available/spare but that's about the best way to find out.

There doesn't seem to be a "Best Load" class in the list on page 1 ???
