IPMS Show at Telford 2010
on: October 24, 2010, 09:33:45 PM
I've seen the advert in TMW all year and seen a few on various forums talking about this show.

I was planning to go (as a visitor) Is anyone else going to this show?

Also, for those in the know is there much truck related stuff there or is it mainly military?

Who knows maybe some of us could car share... :-*

Joe.

By the way the pictures not me it's my son!

Guys
November 13th & 14th at Telford Interntional Centre. It's the IPMS (UK) National Show, (previously known as the IPMS Nationals) but now under the guise of Scale Model World. It's regarded (within IPMS (UK) anyway) as probabaly the biggest and best plastic only model show in the world.  A big claim, but then it's a VERY BIG show, occupying all three halls atTelford. It reflects the hobby as a whole so yes military (air and land) predominate but they are far from exclusive. Chris will have the Truck SIG tables there, I'll have the Car & Motorcycle SIG and there are other numerous vehicle based SIG's there too.

Details are here HERE

As an added bonus KFS will be present!

Rich

Can't make it this year but I did go for the first time last year, some pics on my photobucket site http://s137.photobucket.com/albums/q220/Milnerpics/smw%202009/?start=0

As Rich says there will be the Truck SIG and other club stands have an odd truck on them but there are still lots of tables like this-

There are also lots of traders but again, reflecting modelling in general not huge amounts of truck kits (although as Rich says, Howard will be there this year but I'm betting he will be showcasing his Military stuff more), however for tools, accessories, airbrushes etc it is good. If you like to see well built models other than trucks, great but don't expect more than 30 or 40 civilian truck models (and probably less).

As far as I know, Howard will only be taking his military stock with him, but to verify, please contact KFS.

I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on a memory stick somewhere!

What a brilliant day out!!
There were some amazing models there. Puts my efforts to shame.
My kit stash has now increased considerably with lots of bargains, but my wallet is now empty. I could have spent hundreds of pounds there though.
Must start saving for the next one now.

This morning we had our monthly meeting with our model club and they were talking about going next year.
But that's still a long time ahead. Maybe......................

I paid for the KFS Bedford in advance and picked it up from Howard at the show, good job I did, he sold out. He also sold other items from his range of 1/24 military vehicles, I think he's pleased with the result. Wolfie was there with the Truck SIG, Fatty brought along his Bedford collection and started another, incidentally, we're having a Bedford build for the show next year, every one will be a conversion. There were other truck builds on display in the hall, some excellent stuff from Jan Mostek from the Czech Republic, there was a nice Bedford turntable ladder on show on his table and also other truck builds. Jan has intimated that there will be a flat front military conversion for the Emhar Bedford, incidentally, the same interest is also being shown by the person who produced the Bedford kit, we'll just have to see. We asked about future projects including a Kew Dodge, Fordson and an Austin. There were also a few truck models in the competition area, unfortunately I didn't get any pictures due to a very busy weekend, but next year will be different, I shan't be on the executive committee, just another member of the Society enjoying the show.

That turntable ladder had to be seen to be believd, it's based on the Emhar Bedford, superb build by Jan Mostek from the Czech Republic.
