Getting to gaydon
on: May 13, 2012, 09:23:07 PM
looks like i'll be getting there by public transport (mrs has a wedding to go to), so has anyone got any thoughts on the best route I'm in staines and there are 3 stations near gaydon:

Warwick , Leamington Spa and Banbury.

What one would be the best to aim for?

Thoughts please   :cheesy:

How are you going to get to Gaydon from any of the stations?

What might be an idea if someone could pick you up on their way to Gaydon...which then would help you to decide which station.

Warwick looks the best bet if making your own way there.

Was thinking of a cab from the station but the national rail site don't help with that side  :cheesy: shall look to see the cost of a hire van (cheaper than a car) but may end up buying more than i should

I'll be staying in the Holiday Inn at Leamingtom Spa on the Friday and Saturday nights and will be driving to Gaydon from there if that is any help?
I had a quick look on Google maps and the hotel isn't far from the station. What day/s are you planning to go and are you bringing any models?

Depending on the train times, I could pick you up at the station on the Saturday morning and drop you back there Saturday afternoon if that helps. I could do Sunday morning too, but not the afternoon as I shall be heading straight home from Gaydon.

Taxi fare is payable with plastic,................ lots of it!!

That could work quite well. I did try to get down to Gaydon by 08:30 on the Saturday so that I could get parked up and unloaded before it got too busy. It shouldn't add too much time if I drop past the station first!
Let us know what you decide.

Tony are you staying in a hotel at Staines or is that home?. The reson why is I can,t help with a lift as I live up north but if you hav,nt paid for dig,s you could bring a sleeping bag with you and crash in the back of my Pug estate on the Saturday night if that helps. I know it,s not  the Ritz hotel but the offers there if you need it mate. As I,m stopping on site the Saturday night. Then it,s just a case of sorting a lift to the train station on the Sunday night.              Tony.

I can,t does not exist.
I can if I realy try.
