andrew you've got to get one  its so addictive my personal choice would be the man as it was a lovely model to build and seems to look the part the scania is also a nice truck but the 6x4 version seems a tad long and the mirrors let it down unless you get the replacement ones like on mine.

Great photos, thanks for sharing.
From my early geometry days (`taking moments about point P` and all that), I wondered just how more powerful that tipping gear needs to be as opposed to a conventional ram?

Hadn't noticed the ram, is that as per 1:1 or down to space on the model?

Alan, much as I love the MAN, I would be torn as I'm a confirmed US truck fan I like this

tell you what though, I don't understand why the trailers are so expensive ???

two very good wagons you have Alan
i don't think it would be a matter of the ram not being able to work like that in real life, more the strength of the tub
you would need a lot strength support under the tub floor

i not able to look at the pictures at the minute because i'm on the works computer. the tipping gear is quite basic for the price it was you have an underfloor set up which has a threaded bolt running off a motor near the front which you might be able to see in my picture. then from the motor you have 2 wires leading to the small 6v battery pack on the front and another 2 wires leading to the switch which i have bolted onto the side of the foot platform and this raises and tips the body. you can get it to run off the handset but i am unable to use mine as is a 5 channel and i've got a sound to fit which takes up my spare channel i'll upgrade to a 6 channel eventually.
i'm not sure what sort of weight it will handle that was very light soil we we tipping at the show i will try a load of chippings or similar soon i think it should manage them.

the price of the trailers is scary both mine are carson trailers i've bought in germany for a lot less than the uk prices. i'm not a huge us truck fan but i do like the kinghauler though. i think that if you look on ebay the sellers from overseas are a lot cheaper for the tamiya kits but you take a huge gamble with customs and excise i got my man from hong kong for £230 inc postage but i never got hit with tax its just the luck of the draw i asked the seller to wrap mine as 'gift'
