OK Folks I'm testing the waters with this. I attend the Scottish Nationals at Perth with the IPMS 'Beyond the Box' Special Interest Group and we've been attending this show for more years than I care to remember. Over the past couple of years this show has been showing signs of age and in my view one of the problems is that it's not being supported by groups from south of the border, in short, it's stale. The Huddersfield show went down this route and went from a two day show into a one day show but now it's bursting at the seams once again. Looking around the Scottish Nationals this year there were a few truck models on show but I feel that if the 1/24th Truck Model Forum were to a be in attendance then I feel this would be one of the injections this show needs.
If you are prepared to attend this show and bring one or more exhibits then I'll apply for space at the show. Paul Findon 'Fatty' attends this show and has had competition success in the past and also this year with a first in one of the truck classes. So, waddyathink?

this was the first model show i have attended, and have to agree it did seem a bit stale
the best part of the day was when we got to entrance and the guy at the door taking the money gave my old man a Senior citizen ticket  (a few words where exchanged which i dare not repeat here in case i get banned) he thinks he looks a young 64
but on a more serious note if i can help out in anyway strobe then just ask

Hello Alan, we had the 'Beyond the Box' display as you come into the hall by the book stall, Paul Findon had the new Emhar Bedford models on display. I'd like to see the 1/24th Truck Model Forum displaying at this show which would hopefully boost the truck model hobby north of the border and also advertise the forum. So, if you build truck models and you're visiting the show and would like to display, all I ask is a commitment to supply an exhibit for the tables(s) before I commit to asking for space

I'll be there for the weekend but if you can only attend one day, that's fine Alan.

Davie if I can get enough interest in filling a table then there won't be an entry fee as you'll be an exhibitor. I hope to be able to get at least two tables, possibly 4 which is 12x4, so I need at least 20 trucks to display. I'm sure Paul Findon will have a couple as will I but I want to bring new modellers into the show so they will take preference. The exhibits on the table will be representing the forum so, the more the merrier. Nige came and sat with us this year and displayed his scratch builds so there's another member who would probably take up space.

sounds good to me mate I've got 4 models at the moment possibly 5 but looking forword & a little nervous as I've never displayed before

I like to offer whatever support I can, but I thought that Gaydon was far enough to travel! Perth is 236 miles from Leyland which equates to 47 miles per truck
Sorry to be so negative on this subject, but with the best will in the world, it`s a hell of a long way.

Jim
I fully understand your problem with distance as this is one of the main reasons that I am kinda stuck to Scottish shows myself, though I would love to get to a wider range of shows, including supporting the many English shows !!!!
It is always great to see the Beyond The Box gang each year at Perth ,,,,,,,,,,,,, and it was a privilage to be allowed to join them at the table for a blether and some hints/tips this year !!!!
It is obvious that they enjoy the experience as they always make a big effort and show that fun side of model building in the mix of subjects on their table !!!!
I hope the folks that can do will do, and that I can get to see loads of the builds from here that make this forum one of my best favourites !!!!

Hi Nick how are you doing, how did you get on with table space I can attend and have some models I can bring, I know this might be too late but it is hard to commit too far in advance, If you could let me know either way.
Thanks Keith
-
Hi Nick I'll be there as it's only 15 mins from my house and I'll bring my Scanworth and possibly my Seddon 401 if it hasn't been picked up by the owner before hand if that's ok with you
